Lying to increase his fake resume’s plausibility, Rob Granito claimed to have worked with Dwayne McDuffie, and posted this update, following the news that Dwayne had passed away.
If you haven’t been following my second favorite comics news item of the week, barely-literate comics art thief Rob Granito has been caught, exposed, and ruined. If you have any dealings with this guy, cut them off. I’ve been pretty darn entertained by his pathetic attempts to protect his entirely fictitious reputation, and I almost considered his sins against comics worth it, just for the amount of fun we in the industry have been having at his expense.
Then I saw this screengrab above (via Colleen Doran and Tom Feister). He used the death of one of our own to bolster his own fake resume.
Rob, if you see this, pack it in. I’ve seen a few folks that think you have a mental disorder of some kind (mostly because your lies are so incredibly stupid, and your writing ability is evidently on a 2nd grade level), but I don’t think that’s it. I just think you’re a bad person. I think you started off doing what a lot of us did in middle school: tracing drawings you like, and not ALWAYS telling your friends that you didn’t draw them on your own. And unlike anyone with any sense, you just kept going. It was really stupid and definitely criminal, and you’ve been caught, you imbecilic fraud.
Stay away from our cons. Get a real job. It’s over. We’re not letting you come to our conventions anymore. We’re not going to let you sell traced versions of our art anymore.
